Magic Trunk Classroom Program
Opera Grand Rapids' Magic Trunk program provides teachers with an interactive curriculum kit to produce an opera in the classroom. A wonderful way to expose students to the performing arts, the Magic Trunk can be checked out of the Opera Grand Rapids office. Each kit includes a variety of props and materials geared toward students in grades K-5.

Grades K - 2:
Hansel and Gretel
11 lessons including: Characters; Plot and Setting; Fear and Loss; Problem Solving; Music Tells a Story and Resolving Conflicts.
The Magic Flute
10 lessons with subjects like: Real & Imaginary World; Power of Music; Concept of Good and Bad and How Choices determine outcomes.
The Child and the Enchantments
10 lessons with subjects like: Staging; A Tantrum; Lessons Learned and Forgiveness.

Grades 3 - 5:
The Barber of Seville
10 lessons with subjects like: Who is Rosina; Structure of the story; Fact and Fantasy and Visual Arts.
Aida
10 lessons with subjects like: Structure of the story; Fact and Fantasy and Visual Arts.
Madama Butterfly
10 lessons with subjects like: Who is Madame Butterfly; Tragedy; Fact and Fantasy and Visual Arts.
