Opera Grand Rapids is proud to call the Nation’s first LEED certified Opera Center it’s home. Located in on East Fulton, the Opera Center houses the Company’s box office, costume shop, administration, and the Violet Wondergem Rehearsal Hall, where our productions are staged.

For more than 42-yearsthe Company wandered from empty storefronts, to office suites to rehearse its productions. In February 2010 the Company moved into its first permanent home, the Betty Van Andel Opera Center.

The 2.5 Million dollar green project was named after Betty Van Andel, who was a member of the Opera Grand Rapids Board of Trustees from 1981 to 1990. In 2001, the Jay and Betty Van Andel Foundation awarded Opera Grand Rapids a 1 Million dollar gift to jumpstart the building project

The Opera Center also plays hosts a variety of social and educational programs, and is available for rental to the community.
